privacy policy

effective and last updated

Your books, notes, and reading progress are stored on your device.

This policy covers i promise i'll read it in full, the PDF and EPUB reading app developed by Roberto Neil Santos (zatro), and this website. “I” refers to the developer.

The app works without an account. It does not upload your reading library to me, include advertising or third-party analytics, or sell your personal data.

data on your device

The app processes and saves the information needed to let you read and return to your place:

  • Your reading: copies of the PDFs and EPUBs you import, file names, document titles and authors when available, and locally generated covers.
  • Your place and library: reading positions, bookmarks and their excerpts, collections, and document display choices.
  • Your annotations: highlighted passages, notes, unfinished drafts, saved recall questions, handwriting, and deleted annotations retained for undo.
  • Your preferences: appearance, reading size, onboarding choices, and local reading-activity timing used for the companion and app icon.

Document rendering, text extraction, search, layout checks, and companion remarks run locally. The companion uses local reading activity and page position; your documents are not sent to an AI service.

On a mobile device, files and reading information are saved in the app’s local storage. If you use a browser version, they are saved in that browser’s local storage and IndexedDB for that browser profile and site.

access and sharing

The app accesses files or folders you choose through the system picker, or documents you open or share into the app. Importing a folder includes supported files in its subfolders. These are local copies; the app does not scan your whole device or keep the selected folder synchronized.

If a file you choose is held by a cloud storage provider, that provider may download it to your device under its own terms. This does not send the document to me.

When you copy a passage, it is placed on your device’s clipboard. When you export a handwritten PDF, the app creates an export file and passes it to the save location or app you choose. Export files may also remain in the app’s temporary cache until the operating system clears them. Your chosen destinations and any clipboard synchronization are governed by those services and your device settings.

The app does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or precise location. I do not receive your imported documents, notes, handwriting, or reading history through normal use of the app.

retention and deletion

Reading data remains in the app’s local storage until that storage is cleared. Removing a collection does not delete its documents. Deleted annotations remain locally recoverable for undo; deleting a note is not the same as permanently erasing its stored recovery copy.

To remove all locally stored app data:

  • Android: use your device’s Settings, open the app’s storage settings, and clear its storage or app data.
  • iPhone or iPad: delete the app and its data. Offloading the app alone keeps its documents and data.
  • Browser: clear site data for the address where you used the reader, including local storage and IndexedDB. Clearing only cached images or browsing history may not remove reading data.

Device, operating-system, browser, or cloud backup features may preserve or restore local app data according to your settings. Manage those backups separately if you want to remove retained copies. Copies you exported or shared, and your original source files, are separate from the app’s storage and must be deleted at their destinations.

There is no app account to delete and no developer-hosted reading library that I can retrieve or erase remotely.

keeping data safe

The app uses the storage protections provided by your operating system or browser. It does not add its own password lock or separate encryption layer for your library. Protect your device, browser profile, and backups, especially if your documents contain sensitive information.

This website is served over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

this website

This policy website is hosted by Vercel. When you visit, Vercel processes the technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, which may include your IP address, requested URL, browser and device information, and request time. That processing is described in Vercel’s Privacy Notice.

This site does not include advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms, or tracking cookies. Fonts and images are served from this site, without a third-party font service. Visiting this policy does not give it access to your app’s reading library.

Hosting information may be processed in countries other than your own. Vercel controls retention of its infrastructure records under its policies. If you follow an external link, the destination’s privacy practices apply.

support and your rights

If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, such as your name, message, or attachments. Email is handled through Gmail. I use that information to respond to your enquiry and resolve the issue. Please avoid sending sensitive documents unless they are necessary for your request.

Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your request and maintain necessary support records, or meet legal obligations. You can request its deletion at the email address below. Information you send voluntarily may be disclosed to service providers needed to handle that communication, or where legally required; it is not sold or used for advertising.

Depending on the laws that apply to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, restrict or object to its use, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, or complain to your local privacy authority. Contact me to exercise a right concerning information I hold. Your reading library is controlled through your own device and storage settings.

children’s privacy

The app does not ask for a date of birth or create user profiles. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to me through a support request, please contact me so I can address it and delete it where appropriate.

policy changes

If the app’s data practices change, I will update this policy and its date. Material changes that require additional notice or consent will be communicated before the new processing begins.
